things to EMBRACE:
ALL THE BITS ABOUT YOURSELF THAT YOU LOVE!
CLOTHES THAT YOU FEEL GOOD IN!
Make sure you can sit, jump, bend and lean in your outfit. If you're uncomfortable, it will show! Also, dress to showcase your favourite features. There are plenty of tricks to help you feel fantastic when choosing an outfit i.e high waist jeans will thin a waistline, heels can give the illusion of longer legs, wearing sleeves in a darker shade will thin arms
ACCESSORIES & LAYERS - SCARF, BELT, HAT, HEADPIECE, SUSPENDERS, CARDIGAN, VEST, BLAZER
adding a few layers or accessories helps create a look that appears polished and complete
MIXING OF FABRICS - LACE, KNIT, COTTON, LEATHER, DENIM
Mixing fabrics adds another dimension to your outfit and creates depth
HIGH WAIST SKINNY JEANS
They look great on most shapes and sizes, a great piece to plan your outfit around
MAXI DRESSES / skirts
Team your maxi with a blazer and boots in winter or belt and heels in summer and you've always got a winning combination
MUTED COLOURS
Yellow (mustard), blue (navy, denim), red (maroon), white (cream, light grey), purple (plum) - choosing muted colours helps bring together a cohesive look without being "matchy-matchy"
cOORDINATING OUTFITS (2+ people)
Choose 2-3 colours and each wear one or two pieces in varying shades of these colours for picture perfect couple and group portraits
EXFOLIATING & moisturising
For beautiful, soft, dewy skin be sure to moisturise and exfoliate face, lips and body leading up to your session
HAIR, MAKE UP & NAILS
Complimentary Hair and Make-up is included for one. The aim of these services is to create a look that says "I consistently get enough sleep and I'm having the best skin and hair day of my life". After a little time being pampered, contoured, smoothed and painted it's likely you will feel every bit as incredible as you look and have a little extra confidence to rock the session too
ART
Before we create art together, I urge my clients to think about what they want to achieve from their session. How do you want to use your images? Prints, canvas, albums, keepsake boxes, timber prints, metal prints, gifts, brag books, coffee table books, calendars. There are so many ways to utilise all the images from your session and ensure your experience is treasured and celebrated for many years
things to avoid:
The colours, patterns and items mentioned below can be obtrusive and become a distraction or main focal point in images. My goal is to help you create timeless images you can treasure forever!
visible logos/brands/text on clothes
Please, don't do it...
florescent/bright colours
(including bright white)
In addition to becoming a main focal point in images, these colours can cast on to face/neck/hair
loud patterns
This is especially important for sessions with more than one person. One loud clothing item will become a focal point of the image, secondary will be the person wearing it and everyone else would follow
sneakers (especially white sneakers guys!)
I'm talking about joggers, mainly. This is a good general rule for all covered in shoes that are white
white socks
Choose a colour that is a close match to your shoes to ensure your socks don't become a focal point in your images
matching outfits
Coordinating is in - matching is out. To achieve an effortlessly cohesive look I recommend choosing 2-3 colours and having everyone to wear 1-2 items in varying shades of those colours i.e muted blue, grey, denim and maroon/burgundy
tanning
The camera will pick up any uneven areas, orange tones and fine lines, especially in areas that are drier i.e palms, elbows, heals. If you are tanning before your session, I recommend choosing a lighter shade to avoid high contrast on hands, elbows, knees and heels, I also recommend having it done by a professional to ensure even coverage
