Let us help you get ready for your session and make it as simple as possible with some general tips and tricks that will enable you choose a cohesive, timeless wardrobe for your photoshoot that will last the test of time
Go plain
By plain, we mean no big logos or bright colours (white, fluro etc}, sharp patterns. Instead choose muted tones or neutrals and have fun with textures such as denim, lace, knit, leather, linen etc. some or favourite muted tones are emerald, ruby, navy, cream, etc
Think siblings, not twins
For a timeless, elegant collection, avoid matchy matchy and instead choose similar colours in different tones. If someone is wearing a pattern, choose tones from that pattern to scatter through the others
Accesorise
Don't be afraid to add belts, brooches, scarves, jackets, capes etc. Have something in your wardrobe that always feels a little extra or you haven't been brave enough to wear yet? show me! I'd love to see how we can incorporate it into your session. Also, don't forget we do have some options at the studio - you're welcome to book a cosult and come check it out!
Plan out big changes
You might be thinking of other services for your session such as new hair cuts, waxing, tattoos etc and our advice around this is to give yourself enough time to be healed and to maybe grow out a haircut that's taken too much of your fringe or left dye around hairlines etc for a fantastic hairdressing experience, we recommend
Hair & Makeup
If you'd like to spoil yourself with Hair and Makeup for your session, our recommendations are below.
Tanning
Tans can create gorgeous glowy skin if applied well. We wont edit tan disasters so we recommend choosing a reputable tanning salon to apply a violet based spray tan. We recommend
Avoid the sun
Leading up to your session, the last thing you want to be sunburnt or have dark tan lines. We recommend a good dose of slip, slop, slap and staying out of the sun as much as possible leading up to your session.
Reach out
We recommend styling one main outfit first and styling everyone else around the one main outfit, but if all else fails, don't hesitate to reach out and run your ideas by us. We are passionate about creating beautiful style choices for your portraits and would love to help any way we can!
